Installation

• The fax server will need to be plugged into an analogue extension on a PABX.
• You will need to change the analogue extension that the fax server is connected to into a voicemail port so when the extension is answered the DDI number that has been dialled is sent as a DTMF string.
• All the DDI fax numbers that you want to use will have to be purchased from your PSTN provider and added to your phone system and directed to this analogue port that the fax server is connected to.
• These DDI numbers will then be programmed into the fax server and the relevant email address added to each number.
• The fax server will then need to be connected to a LAN and set up with the correct network settings depending on how the site is configured.
• You will need to have an SMTP email system for the email function to work. If so then enter your email server IP address into the fax server - this way it can email the faxes.

It works like this:
Call comes in → phone system recognises the DDI number and sends it to the analogue port the fax server is connected to → fax server answers it and the phone system sends the number as a DTMF string → fax server tries to match the DTMF string to numbers in its internal directory; if it gets a match when the call has finished it will send the fax to the email address that was saved with the DDI number.

Fax software
